Pressure-enthalpy diagram for actual refrigeration system

As we discussed in pressure-enthalpy diagram of the vapor compresion refrigeration cycle and shown in the How the vapor compression refrigeration cycle work? and Pressure-enthalpy diagram (P-h) at various conditions, however, the actual is different from the ideal case.

P-h diagram of the actual refrigeration system deviates from the ideal case as the results of:

  1. Pressure drop in Evaporator and Condenser
  2. Pressure drop across suction and discharge valves of Comp
  3. Heat transfer in Compressor
  4. Pressure drop and heat transfer in connecting pipe lines
  5. Requirement of superheated and subcooled of the system

Understanding the actual system and the P-h diagram helps us troubleshoot issues that may be encountered on-site.
