When we design buildings in hot and humid climates, like Thailand, we need to control two main things.
Firstly, heat. We must prevent heat from entering the building. This can be achieved through various strategies, including careful building orientation and effective shading methods.
Secondly, humidity. It is essential to prevent humidity and moisture from penetrating the building envelope. Techniques such as the use of vapor barriers and keepting the air pressure inside a little higher than outside, aka positive pressure.
Controlling these two things is very important for making buildings feel cool and comfortable without using too much energy.
