Types of control loops

There are two main types of control loops:

  1. Open-loop control: This strategy does not directly measure the controlled variable. Instead, it measures another variable related to it. While simpler to implement, open-loop control is generally less accurate as it cannot compensate for disturbances or changes in the system.
  2. Closed-loop control: This strategy directly measures the controlled variable, providing feedback on the effects of the control action. This feedback allows the system to adjust and maintain the desired output, resulting in higher accuracy. However, closed-loop systems can be more complex to design and may require careful calibration.
