Solid desiccants, such as silica gel, use the process of adsorption to remove moisture from the air. Adsorption is the adhesion of water vapor onto the surface of a solid material.
These desiccants are engineered with many of microscopic pores, creating a very large internal surface area for moisture capture.
This type of dehumidifier is commonly referred to as a “desiccant wheel.
